Amy Thompson, DMD
Dr. Thompson, a native of North Mississippi, received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1996 and worked in the aerospace industry in Huntsville before entering the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2002. She is actively involved in church and mission work and has been on several dental mission trips to Honduras, Mexico and Ukraine. Amy and her husband Chris have two sons, Andrew and Jacob and one daughter, Katie.

I joined the Trio Dental Team in August of 2013. I grew up in the small, charming, town of Columbus, Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi Delta’s Dental Hygiene School. After getting married, my husband, Billy, and I moved to the Huntsville area. I have combined my passion for educating patients on excellent oral health and helping people in need by taking part in several dental mission trips. They give me the opportunity to do three of my favorite things at once: travel, help people and practice dental hygiene. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my kids, watching Alabama football and playing with our miniature dachshund, Rambo.

I joined the Trio Dental Team in October of 2011. Before coming to Trio, I worked in the medical field for 15 years and decided to change my career to the dental industry. Since then, I have grown to love many aspects of dentistry and it has motivated me to continue my education in this exciting profession. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, reading and spending time with my family.

My husband and I moved to Huntsville in May of 2020. My husband had a new job opportunity and I quickly joined the Trio team. I am originally from Indiana and I'm a big Indiana University Hoosier fan! I have been a dental assistant for ten years and find great joy in helping patients and making them comfortable while they work toward their best smile. My passion for dentistry goes all the way back to the third grade. When I'm not working, I enjoy cycling and scuba diving with my husband, walking our two small dogs (Jack and Jill), cooking and competing in triathlons.

I was raised in Highland Home, AL and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University in 2010. In 2016, I found the desire to work in dentistry and graduated from the Trenholm State Community College Dental Assistant Program. Since then, I have acquired a lot experience in the dental field while working with the United States Department of Defense as a Dental Assistant in For Leonard Wood, Missouri. In 2019, after many years of travel and living abroad, my family and I settled in Huntsville.
I was welcomed to the team in January of 2020. I believe that my lively personality, knowledge and ability to connect well with patients will help you to have the best experience possible!
Outside of the dental office, my hobbies are crafting, traveling, shopping, reading, fishing and spending time with my family and friends.
